About This Item

VETERINARIAN: Tanya Grantham, BSc(Hons), BVSc (Veterinary Science), CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner), CCBW (Caninology Canine Body Worker), CVA (Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist), CertSCVA (Certificate of Safety and Competence in Veterinary Acupuncture), 2020 Finalist for Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapist of the Year.

SPECIALIZING IN PUPPIES, OLDER, AND GERIATRIC DOGS AND CATS

My philosophy on treating puppies: I firmly believe that the sooner a developmental condition is noticed and diagnosed, the more options are available to treat the condition. Soft tissue can influence the skeleton and indeed we see this with many problems associated with young dogs. Hip dysplasia and patellar luxation are probably the most discussed. Allow me to discuss physical therapy and exercises which may benefit you pet or patient.

My philosophy on treating older and geriatric dogs and cats: Veterinarians are taught to assist with pain in a multi-modal manner – specifically with regards to the use of medicines. The multi-modal approach I use is holistic. I am able to discuss the use of drugs in combination with physical therapy modalities that reduce pain in dogs and cats. These modalities include massage, electrotherapy, and photobiomodulation (light therapy) which are within the reach of animal guardians and veterinary professionals alike. Acupuncture (and acupressure) can also be applied.

I provide consults for Pet Parents:

  • To discuss options for conditions seen in young dogs that are not yet part of veterinary curricula.
  • To provide additional assistance so that the quality of life of older dogs is enhanced, and longevity increased.
  • To consider all the factors that influence you and your companion in order to find a feasible solution for your specific situation.

I am passionate about making a difference - and not only in the lives of physically compromised animal companions but also their human guardians. My mission is to create awareness, impart knowledge and teach practical steps to obtain measurable outcomes for my patients, clients and students alike. My focus is the best solution for you and your animal.

But, just as important, I believe in helping you obtain confidence and the peace of mind that comes from truly understanding the condition you are dealing with and knowing what options are available. I will lead you through a process in deciding which of these will suit you best, and what practical steps you can take to move forward - from the very first consultation. I will guide you, whether you are a professional or a pet parent, from theory to application, in such a way as to bring new light to both.

If contacting me for help with a pet following injury or illness, I will need the following information before the consult

  • Pet's name, breed, weight, age
  • Pet's injury or issue
  • When did injury or issue occur
  • In what sport or activity is the pet involved
  • Why are you seeking a consult
  • Veterinary professional who is currently treating the pet including clinic name, phone, e-mail

Once you purchase the consult, you will be provided with instructions.

At first when I went to meet Dr Tanya I did not know what to expect and rated them based on one visit. Now after being there again, and seeing how thorough they are, and how accurate their acupuncture etc. is, I am very impressed. Their care is genuine and rare. Definitely a must for an injured fur baby, even if all you want is their opinion.” Nicole Sequeira (client)

"Dr Tanya’s teaching, takes a "real world" approach by providing practical rehab exercises for different conditions that clinicians will find easy to teach and owners will find easy to learn."  Dr Steve Denley, BVSc, CVA, CVCH, GradDip ABM, Australia

“I was very appreciative of being made part of the healing team as the manner in which you explained my part in the process was excellent and where I did not fully understand your requirements you were patient in your explanation. I learnt a lot about my dog and his healing process.”  Les Leadbitter (client)
